So I've noticed this for quite some time and know it's not normal but,when I pull into like a parking lot,slow down in gear coming up to railroad tracks,or a light in second and let off the gas there is a thud,thud,thud coming from the trunk but,I have nothing in there?The best way to describe the sound is like a a small subwoofer hitting really low and slow.I don't think its the fuel in the gas tank.Only happens when it's in low gear coming to slow speeds til I take it out of gear and hit the brake.Any ideas what it is?

Is it your spare tire? If it's not bolted down it could make noise on bumps

Na,it's not the spare...this happens on smooth roads etc.it's when i'm pulling in/up to somewhere and then letting off the throttle but,the car has to be in gear usually 2nd...could it be the diff going bad?

It's the dude in your trunk pounding on the inside when you slow down, trying to alert someone he's in there.

It could be your rear upper control arm bushings.
