I’m pretty sure my Aristo ECU has gone bad and I’m having a difficult time finding a spot to do cap repairs.

I can use any 2JZ-GTE Aristo ecu, correct? I saw that there are different part numbers for the Aristo GTE ecu.

For instance:
Aristo ecu JZS16#89666-30180 (0007-)
Aristo ECU PART #89661-35060 (91-93)
89661-30870 (94-97)

You can use the second and the third in lieu of one to the other since they are both NON VVTi 2jzgte ECUs

BUT you cannot use the first on that list in exchange of the second and the third for the simple reason that the first is a VVTI ECU . Then, even if your engine is a VVTI , you still cannot simply pickup another of those ECU with an IMMOBILIZER which that model is without doing any reprogramming

Good catch, didn't notice the first one is vvti year range and that one has the immobilizer also.

For non vvti, when looking or ordering always make sure it looks like the old ecu with the 3 plug ecu connector, that and being JDM it should work for this mod.

Yeah if you want a vvti ecu for anyone reading avoid that one above which has the immobilizer, look for an ecu like 89661-3A470.
I have one of those I am saving for a vvti setup and it does not have an immobilizer plug.

ok, cool.
How about a USDM 2jzGTE ecu? I’ve been using an Aristo ECU up until it took a dump recently.

You can't use a USDM ECU if you had an Aristo ECU ... cause the USDM uses 550cc injectors which means fuel injection will be rich which can be corrected with a piggy back like an SAFC but the other factor is the USDM ECU uses a MAF which your setup do not have cause it was using an Aristo ECU . Your engine harness has some subtle / small differences on account of that MAF.

You need a non vvti JDM aristo OR non vvti JDM supra ecu. It's on page 1.
USDM uses a maf and doesn't work as good with this mod, even with a vpc or piggyback etc..

There'sa guy on Facebook he's rebuilt two ecus for me an aristo non vvti gte auto ecu and a Supra gte mines ecu. The cost is typically $150 with two to three week turnaround he'll ask for internal photos of the ecu. He's not just the typical cap swap, he'll repair the board if need be, just make sure you're clear with him on any issues so he can track them down.

Okay guys I’m back. It’s been A while lol I found a non vvti block cleaned it all spotless decked and rebuilt it. Still collecting some parts to get this setup going but I’m pretty close to having everything I need. I got my old intake manifold off and my obd1 intake is cleaned up and installed with new 440s. Gonna throw on the gte maf and fuel pump some time this week when I have time and see if it runs with good afrs via wideband. Just a recap bc it’s been a while I’m doing this setup with a late model 99 sc trying the gte vvti ecu with maf and map setup. If you go back to around April 2019 you’ll see everything we’ve figured out so far.

Let us know how it goes, sounds like it should work nicely.

Did you install the larger injectors 440cc?
stock pump is fine under 8 psi of boost depending on turbo, so should be ok at idle and driving on stock pump.

Still testing on my stock vvti motor. Still need an intercooler a clutch and some other small stuff before I pull everything out. Did you ever get your vvti setup going on your Tacoma? About to try and get my fuel pump and ecu in before I go to work tonight I’ll keep everyone posted.

Adiflow, yes make sure the injectors are good. I tried the cheap knock off ones before and the car would not idle good and ran bad.
Find a set of good 440's, and make sure map sensor is good. If all of that is good check the coolant sensor (2 pin sensor under front part of intake manifold).

SC3rrt, I Decided to take the head off for a valve job and I took my time over the winter putting it back together, its pretty close now but I am not sure I will drop it in the Tacoma anymore.
Might end up selling a few of my toys this summer and making space for a new project that the vvti motor will go into, haven't decided yet but it is going in something this year!!
I have both a front and rear sump set for it, so I can pretty much drop it in whatever when the time comes... you know as long as it physically fits .

I want to say Gerrb was running a vvti na-t setup off an aristo ecu when he did that last build in his thread.
He said it was running well and very responsive at the time, so that is at least one person on here who had good luck with it.
