From the SC3 and SC4 to the 430...and these cars used to be so pretty
#46
Although I can appreciate the SC430 and I'm sure the 3UZ-FE is great, but they have always looked odd. The bulky rear proportions necessary to accommodate the folding hardtop is my main issue, Dress it up with some nice wheels and a lip kit and it looks better, but still not good.
...and the pie-plate 18's killed the SC430. Neither car had particularly attractive OEM wheels when they launched.
I disagree. The 92-96 cars were much cleaner. No need for an extra grille and come chrome piping in the tails. There, I said it.
I'd take a stock 430 over a stock 300/400 any day...those 16s killed the car
In stock form, only the 04+ SC430 and 97+ SC look decent. The earlier years for both 1SC (esp 92-94) and 2SC are butt ugly. There I said it.

No upper grille looks plain and dated. Fan blade wheels don't help either
If we had a head count, most people would rather take a 97+ than a 92-96. Anyone attempt to convert their 97+ to a pre-97 yet?

430's arent bad, just not my style.. everybody has theyre own tase, thats just lexus's way of updating a body style that was around for upwards of ten years.. nowadays roadsters and convertables are in style.. just a different version.. like i said theyre cool, just not my style.. i would definetly choose my 1j sc300 over a 430..
and budget doesnt always change perception, i've had a ton of cars, sold my plymouth prowler for my sc, now ive had three sc300s!!
