anyone thought about lambo doors?
just a question, has anyone tried or done this to an sc? or would i get ripped appart. you know what i mean, the doors that rotate up instead of out. i think that would be somethin else. you never see cars that have the doors that come up like that. What do you all think?

Our doors are heavy as hell already, to make Lambo doors would require some serious hinges and A LOT more money than I'm willing to spend. Lambo doors look good on the Lamborghini, but I'd imagine it'd look weird on the SC. It's a good concept in combatting the clearance of our long doors though, just impractical.

It could be done... personally I think it would be kind of unique. Cool if thats what you're going for. Like lex400sc said tho.. our doors really are HEAVY. Ive never seen anything like it on any other car. My guess is they prolly weight at least 70 lbs which would be a pain in the *** to lift. If you got in a crash or something where u had to get out quickly it might be a serious problem.

moshlub, thats 100k for the whole car all over. the doors should only be around 2k.
im going to go check it out soon. i think that it would be something unique. i agree about the heaviness, do you think there can be a way to install pnumatics or something in there to lighten the load?

I may be new in here but im not new to cars. That Silver BMW is using what some people refer to as a Rolling Elbow hinge. It requires no modifications to the roofline or for the most part the doorframe but work has to be done to the front part of the front doorframe/firewall area and will cost a lot and add weight. That 300zx has the roofline to support a door opening like that which is a major problem with our cars. I cant tell without actually moving my doors sraight up but you would most likely have to modify the window fram to even allow the door to open straigh up, as in either remove it and make it part of the roof or most likely modify the room itself. (cutting and leaning A-pillars etc etc) Which would require diff glass. secondly te shape of our doors might cause the lower back corner to hit the door frame. Then you would need a different door latch system because the one that works for side to side wont be effective for an Up/down door and would actually keep it from moving at all. the first way is cheaper but by far not Cheap. the second method is VERY expensive. If you have the money to spend and y ou really think its worth it, go for it. Being different is what its all about.

LOL london bill!! haha
yah, i got all these crazy ideas. i dont know, i just like to be different. i havent got around to getting to the shop to ask the price on the doors, but i will be sure to keep you guys posted. I was thinking having the door go out slightly then up. opening about 3 inches, to get clearance. then go up... anyways it would be crazy...
