Lightbulb A big day for lighting

Hey guys, today I finished making and installing my clear sidemarkers. They look great! I am overwhelmingly happy w/ the result (and knowing that I saved hundreds of dollars makes it even better ). I need to thank SDSC300 for posting a very helpful pic that let me know how to access my corners, & especially thank CmputerWiz (I asked him a buncha questions on this topic & he gladly tutored me through the process). Thank you guys very much, I couldn't have completed this project without your help. I also installed the xenon lights that I got in the mail and cleaned everything up real nicely. She looks like a new car! Unfortuantely right now I only have a couple pics that came out half decent, i think it was a little too dark out. I'll be posting better pics later. Here is a pic of one sidemarker (i personally like the contrast between the jade green & the clear). SOOO happy w/ my progress today!!!
Thanks everyone,
-Johnny

Default xenons

Can't really get a great idea of what it truly looks like w/ this photo. But you can tell that it has a certain "non-stock" look by seeing this pic. Hopefully I can get some higher quality shots later

I got Super White Plasma HID Xenon Headlights made by Plasma Industries. Not exactly the highest quality bulbs ever,, but they look real nice (not rice) IMO. They are a very crisp white color w/ only a slight hint of blue. Very happy w/ that purchase.

Uh...I hate to break your bubble but I did some research on your setup there...

Those are NOT HID's in any way, shape or form. Xenon gas is NOT the only element in a HID system...and most of these companies that claim they have Xenon gas in their bulbs are full of it.

What you got there is a overwattage "HID wannabe" bulb. It's a 80W/100W and you run a VERY good chance of jacking up a $300+ wiring harness by running those. The normal wattage is lik 55W so you can see that pulling almost double the wattage through your harness...something that it was NOT designed for.

REAL HID's run at 35W and you need to have a ballast (and igniter which is sometimes intergrated into the ballast)...

I recommend you take those out and if you want to take the "cheap" route, get some Koito WhiteBeam bulbs which are nearly the same color as HID's but they run in the proper wattage spectrum...

Overwattage bulbs are bad news! They also run extra hot...not good! Why not do it right and just get a REAL HID upgrade...

That is a true Philips HID with Osram 8000k Bulbs, these DO have the color flicker when driving...

That pic was taken from about 50 feet away Zoomed in and enhanced in the dark. I can take more if you want..

Just request the location of pic and distance away.

Manaray, I know it's not a true HID setup,, i just typed in the name that was on the box (which includes "HID"). I wasn't trying to make it seem like I had a HID setup when I only got the bulbs, that is just part of the description. But they look real good, but i gotta get rid my non-xenon clear lights now because they kinda clash Overall a very cool look tho IMO.

Teal - That doesn't look like color flicker to me...the color looks all the same...color flicker is when it goes from bright purple to white...like BMW's and Audi's...that also comes from the headlight's optics, NOT the bulbs...the SC's optics do NOT do that...

Silverbolt - Hey, I just wanted to make sure you knew what you had there...didn't know if you knew they were real HID's or not...but seriously, before you jack up a perfectly good harness, get rid of those bulbs...get some Sylvania SilverStars ($50/pair at AutoZone) or Koitos (get a price from Steve Ganz)

Just don't refer to them as "Xenon"...despite what the packaging says, they're not Xenon....they're just overwattage bulbs. You're better off doing a 9005 to 9006 conversion rather than using those bulbs...trust me on this one. Don't mess up a $300+ harness just to get "cool looking" lights...you'll be sorry later...
