i used an is 300 steering wheel form an 01' and air bag from an 02' i have no clue if the 2003 and up are single stage

OK does a 02-03 es300 wheel use a stage 1 bag and does a 01-03 rx300 use a stage 1 bag.

This is an old thread but I've searched many times and haven't been able to find an answer to the question of whether or not '01-'02 IS300 wheel airbags are in fact single-stage. Can anyone clarify please? There are many IS/Celica/Matrix/MR2/Altezza wheel threads but none of them are clear about this, other than how to wire up a dual stage bag or single Toyota bag.

Strictly Lexus vehicles and NOT including Toyota, the single stage bags are up to 2001 right?

A couple of days ago I bought a 2001 IS300 airbag on ebay. I asked this same question and was told that all IS300's (2001-2005) had single-stage airbags.

I'm thinking that most other Lexus cars had dual-stage bags by then? It's a rebadged Toyota Altezza with a common Toyota steering wheel so this would make sense.

All I know is that I bought a 2001 IS airbag and it's single.

Oh iigh .. I guess its better to play it safe rather than be sorry and jus get the 2001 an previous years airbags

I believe that 2001 was the first year for the US IS300's. The only earlier airbag that would fit (I think) would be ones from the RAV4's which are physically very similar to the IS version.
