Tokicos are awesome
Hi guys,
I finished installing blue Tokico struts in the front today, did the rears last week, the car drives like new. The ride is great with OEM springs, steering is more precise and responsive, and less body-roll around corners. The old OEM struts I took off had 96,000 miles on them and were getting "sloppy", one even had a leak.
These new struts are great I highly recommend them to anyone who is due for some replacements.

If he has OEM springs on an SC then the Tokicos he bought are NOT adjustable.
Tein CS are supposed to ride nice... still tighter than stock from what a local shop told me. The HA's are really stiffer but not kidney killers in a light setting and reasonable height.
I went with new OEM shocks and Eibach springs to drop my SC and I am very happy with it.

My AGX are set to 4 (the stiffest) and I don't have a problem. Sure it's bumpy, but it handles like it's on rails. At this point I need a better seatbelt and better seat. Just recently I got 255s in the rear and 235s in the front. Awesome handling!

Your OEM shocks will die prematurely in this setup. With a one-inch drop on your springs, you are overcompressing the hydraulic fluid in the shocks. Buy Tokico or Teins and both your springs and shocks will last longer.

Thanks for the advice. I hear what you are saying. However I compressed the stock shocks on a bench jig and it showed little change in "feel" pressure. The question really comes from the shaft being so long that it will leave a short throw on the remaining distance. The 1" Eibach drop will not affect that unless I was to cart around an extra 500-800 pounds or 3 fat people in my car on a consistent basis. Won't happen.
I do have a fair amount of experience with this issue, I have lowered over 500 cars in my life when I worked in local performance shops. When a customer would come in and get springs on his stock shocks we would always suggest a Tokico setup. However, the MAIN reason for the suggestion was that the shock was older. In truth, we were a master distributor of Tokico struts and made a ton on them. In reality, Tokicos are spec'd off the factory ride height, HIGHER pressure (hence the name on the strut of HP), and would only serve to 'control' the bounce and rebound to a tighter variance.
