Default Guess I should have kept the Supermade Lenses!

I was trying to source a set of Supermade lenses for another guy to help him find them and got some disturbing news.

I emailed a source that (was selling) them because they were not on their website anymore.
They tell me "they have been discontinued."
So I ask if that means from them or from Supermade, he emails back and says "Word is they are completely gone and no more production is scheduled."

Wow, If you have a set better hold on to them. I guess its just another discontinued part for our 10-18 year old car.

Hey Scott,

I remember you saying something about "de-lining" the factory lenses. Do you know of a thread that covers that?

Noooo.

I hate to hear that, not solely the lenses but I hate to hear the SC beginning to fade off into the past.

Alternative route is to buy those ebay headlights, and use their covers.

you can get them clear, just takes time and practice, i've delined some headlights before, some i got very clear like stock, and a few not so great a little hazy, i think finer grit in the end with more polishing/buffing is the key, but it's a alot of work, i'd personally just go with the ebay lens

What is the next good quality (does not look like cheap plastic) alternative?

BrightX look like the supermades, might even be them marketed under a different name. Guess we will see if anyone can still get them. Ebay lenses are another option but I have heard they dont fit the OEM housing well.

Final Konnexion also sells the same ones as Super Made. I've been told the BrightX versions come from the same mold also, but BrightX just recently raised their prices to >$200. For a long time, BrightX was selling them for around $130.

I've never delined headlights before, but I'm about 98% sure I can make them completely clear. You have to have the correct tools. I'm thinking I can do one lens in about 20-30 minutes. I'll do one in a couple hours and post a pic.

I'll be using a DA sander and a bench polisher. You can get the polisher for $70.
