Default Airbag cover? Interior dye spray?

I was just going to ask if anyone knows of a spray dye that I could use to fix my steering wheel airbag cover, etc.

Then I saw Tony's pic today and am wondering - is there a separate cover that you can buy, not just the entire airbag itself? I would have put this under the thread Tony started, but it quickly turned into a Japan conversion discussion more than anything else.

Here's the problem - I thought the cover was a solid color all the way through, so I used a plastic cleaner/poilsh to do a "really good" clean-up and now it looks like crap. I am in on the wood steering wheel group buy, so I want the airbag (or cover part if separate) to look like new, without forking out for a new airbag.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hey Ryan,

I thought I could just replace the cover as well, but after removing the airbag, the cover is attached to the airbag. I'd be too afraid to attempt to remove it.

Good Luck,
Tony

So Tony,

What kind of a deal did you do when you said it cost you nearly nothing for your Soarer setup? Am I missing something? I thought airbags were like $1K.

Thanks,
Ryan

Marhyde, works great, stinks though, until it's really well cured anyhow.Might be good to find out if the thinners in it could possibly affect the firing off of the airbag.
The 4runner we have has a black wheel, same as the SC visually;too bad my wife would notice if it were to suddenly change colors.

Good suggestion - I was thinking along the lines of OEM exact match, but maybe changing it to the lighter tan (similar to GS430) might look good too. Is this stuff durable enough to last and look good?
