I painted my entire taillights black except for the reverse lights. I can post pics if you want? I had mine done at a local body shop though.

Thanks but I want red tail lights. A friend told me that transparent vynil is a better option because it will last longer. I still think the paint is better because the vynil probably wont look right since the light has a round shape and there will probably be creases on it. any ideas people?

they both have their pros and cons. i have first hand experience with both. i use VHT nightshades for the spray on stuff and 3m tint film for the vinyl.

pros and cons of spray on
pro - half the price of 3m tint film, easier to work with, you can control how light or dark you want it to be.
con - harder to redo, very easy for dark spots to show up if not done properly, takes time to make it look glossy/shinny

pros and cons of vinyl
pro - very easy to redo just peel off, takes a lot less time to put on, you always get an even tint(no dark spots)
con - hard to work with, if not done properly bubbling shows up, twice the price of spray on tint, you cant control how light or dark it is

edit: just realized you wanted red tint. im not sure if vht makes it. but the japanese spray on stuff is way overpriced.

I agree.. Heres the link for what mine turned out on using VHT, with 5 coats! These were taking with a BB Storm.

I hear vinyl will work good. What year car are the taillights from? Red will look awesome on any of the tails.

Another con to spraying is that it fades and you will have to buff it out to get it nice and glossy again.

The fading just gives me another reason to work in the garage and look at my SC again!

I used VHT night shade's black paint and I liked it a lot. I did the same as 1992 Lexus's tails.
