Talking ALL SC400's..my 4.27 REAR swap REVIEW

i have a 98 SC400 and i belive the stock rear end is 3.266 per lextreme.. and i had dynosaur performance install 4.27's with stock LSD from a Supra... AND IT FEELS LIKE A BEAST!!! i would advise every1 to do this swap!

I was nervous it would start giving up on the top end.. but i went up to 120mph and it was still pushing.. dynosaur said i should be good up to 140mph per the 5th gear, and i plan on swapping a GETRAG 6SPEED TRANNY next

it loses traction easily at WOT AND BOTH TIRES ARE FINALLY SPINNING lol

with the stock rear end, all the power was up top, basically after 50mph.. now it feels like a real v8 from a dig as well!

and i found out that our speedometer is electronic b/c everyone said the speedometer would be off swapping the rear end out and it's still on point.. my friend has 430's in his camaro and it says he's going 100mph when he's only crusing maybe 30-40mph lol

NOW ON THE HWY AT 60MPH IT USED TO CRUISE AT 2000RPM'S...NOW IT CRUISES AT 2900-3000RPM'S AT 60MPH... but ehhh not that bad lol

if that's an issue to you, 4.08's should have you around 2500-2700 maybe lol

I'm curious to know the mpg per tank vs stock with gears.

well i guess i can track it on the alpine nav system and post it... but to give you an idea...

CRUISE SPEED WITH RPMS

STOCK - 3.266 - 60mph - 2000RPM
SWAP - 4.27 - 60mph - 2900-3000RPM

I try to control my gas for every 4 days, which is about 7 full tanks a month

DFW, in the suburbs, so it's not like i'm far from anything, i guess i just love to drive the car lol, i would top off my sentra every 4 days also.. so i just figured it being normal, and now with this rear end swapped, i can't keep my foot off the gas pedal

it's every 4-5 days, about 5-7 full tanks a month
now you got me thinking about my driving habits lol

How much did the parts run you? And is it a direct swap?

Will this swap work in a 92 SC400 ? My rear end was swapped for a GS400 rear end b/c of a broken ring gear.

Your speedo is correct? It may seem correct but the sensor is in the transmission, so anything that happens after that sensor wont be accounted for.... like the diff

Unless the 98 is different than the 92-97, the speedo should be off.

Regardless, nice swap on the diff, I bet it comes to liiiiiffeee

What would you have to do to adjust the speedometer to get it back to normel

Something like a "Speedo Healer" commonly used on bikes, but works on 3 wire speed sensors. I haven't gotten it yet, I got used to my GPS telling me my speed haha. But yeah its on my "to do" list along with everything else.
