hmmm...I think I've told people this one before!

Overwattage bulbs (SilverFlare! Listen up bro! Don't melt your harness just to have wannabe HID lights! It's not worth it!) will burn your harness....

Why don't people listen to someone who has experience?! Would I just make something like that up!?

Thanks for sharing Method....I hope others will learn...

Not all of the Xenon wanna be HID lights are over watt, are they? I have seen some (Eurolite) that say 55 Watt 9006 and 65 Watt 9005 or are they just saying that?

That is true...I'm just warning against overwattage bulbs. I would also stick with name brand...Koito, PIAA, Raybrig, Sylvannia/OSRAM, Hella, etc....

Alright manaray, I think you've finally talked me out of it. In a month or two I'll get new bulbs. But could you point me in the direction of the "right" bulbs. I still want the xenon look but w/ the correct wattage (I'm also starting to like the little hint of blue ) But if you could give me some direction on this I'd appreciate it. My lights look nice now, but you're probably right, I'll pay for it in the future. Thanks for the heads up & we'll hafta figure something out that will give me a safe and cool look at the same time (not an entire HID upgrade!).
Thanks,
-Johnny

I had my first hiper set (blue) for 8 months with no burning, I guess i was lucky... oh wait, no I wasn't! My 2nd Hiper set (the purple super plazma) ended up burning half of the plastic connector and lasted for only 2 months. Both were high wattage version.

Hehe, in the long run it's cheaper to go with real HID... and the road lights up MUCH better (who HASN'T said that?)

I'd stick with Philips HiVisibility, BlueVision, or Sylvania Silverstar. Best there is...

Pardon me for leeching onto this thread, but I didn't want to start up a new one until I get this project rolling...

Okay so I got a donor BMW 3-series HID system from my buddy. He's shipping it to me monday and we'll see then just how feasible this retrofit for our car is. It's a 2001 model 3-series system: Osram 4100K bulbs, Bosch optics, and Bosch ballasts. It will look identical to any 1999-2002 BMW 3-series: perfect whiteness, very wide, deep, and evenly spread beam pattern with no patches, and a deep bluish violet color flicker. It will look truly amazing in the SC if it works out. Anyone have recommendations for a molding compound in case simple aiming screws don't work? From the dimensions he gave me, I'm confident two out of three aiming screws will line up to our headlight housings, but the Bosch optics are shorter and smaller than ours which may be a problem. Thanks and wish me luck when they get here!
