Sc300 5 spd swap questions
Might be buying a sc300 with 1jz, only thing is it is automatic. I want to put a r154 tranny in. So what would I need besides the r154 transmission, 1jz bell housing, manual clutch and brake pedals. I heard somewere you need the 5spd drive shaft and a 5spd diff but not sure if that's true. Any help would be great thanks!

ok well my buddy has one that was converted so i dont know who told you that... and they sell a auto to manual conversion pedal set on www.driftmotion.com so if they couldn't do that conversion i wouldn't understand why they would sell that product.

Orrrrrrr, you can get ahold of Champion Toyota in Austin Texas and tell them you need part numbers, - Housing, Shifter (33521-24040)
- Control Shift Lever (33570-24010) . When I called, they had them in stock. Everything was less than $100.

If your going to convert an auto 1jz sc300 into a manual 1jz sc300, it's going to cost roughly over $1300 minimum if everything was purchase.
JZ bellhousing to R154: $200+ used and $340+ New
R154 tranny: $400 (if your lucky enough to find that is does not grind) or pay $800+ for a good one.
Slave cylinder: $50+ new
SC300/400 manual kit with Master cylinder: $384.99 from driftmotion. I suggest you buy the kit than go through a nighmare finding 1 part number at a time.
Clutch kit: $250+ for stock. Other stage clutch can cost you a lot more depending what you want to do.
1jz/7mgte flywheel: $150+ used and $300+ new
Misc. expense: $200. Includes hardware, lines, oils ect.......

Im not misleading, I didnt mention anything about all the parts you listed.
It cost less than $100 too get the OEM parts too lengthen your shifter housing.... better?
By the way 1jz and 7mgte flywheels are not the same..different crank bolt pattern.

i think comment: "Everything was less than $100," is a little misleading.

I just did my auto to 5 speed swap a few months back. Its really not that bad. Once you have all the parts you need, you can complete the whole shebang in 1 day, like i did. If you have any questions/concerns, PM me and ill steer you in the right direction .

If you dont mind me asking what was the final $$ amount for your swap
Wise guy, eh?
correct
again, correct.
Champion Toyota is in Houston, not Austin.
^^^This guys got it down correctly. Minus the 1jz/7m flywheel part.
Incorrect, the parts do not swap right over even if you buy em new for $100. It can work but the bolt holes do not line up on the shifter assembly and need to be re-drilled.

^ 4 hour break between classes are not fun.
i plan on converting my 97 to manual as well in the future once i have enough money to motor swap.
I believe you need a clutch fork(not sure) will need a 5spd drive shaft since the auto is shorter i believe. Getting a 5spd is optional but it will decrease your cruising rpm.
