rim sizing
I was wondering what rim sizes that my 97 lexus sc400 can have. I found some rims online butt i don't know if they will fit. one of the rims says "4x114.3 or 5x114.3. (fits 4 or 5 lug vehicles.)" and is 18 x 7.5 and has 215/35 ZR 18 tires.
The other rim says " 4x18/ 7.5 Bolt pattern is 4 by 100 and 5 by 100" with 215/40/18 tires.
Thanks for all your help.

You need 5x114.3, tyres will have to be 225mm minimum, since that's what's stock, for 18's you want 235-40 or 245-40 or wider.
Stock offset is 50mm, try to stay as close to this as possible unless you wish to alter the way the car tracks, which you may or may not like, we've had plenty of debates over it. SC3 rim width is 6.5" whereas SC4 rim width is 7" factory. You'll want to go 8" or wider, really you should go 8.5" or wider, and you'll be very pleased if you go with a staggered setup, these cars beg for it.

Haha...no more drama!!
There are many different offsets that other CL members have used and they work fine! 50MM is just the stock offset and does not necessarily have to be followed.
Can the guys with rims post their setups so we can get a feel on which sizes & widths have been tried & used?
Staggered setup is also by far the best way to go.

how so?
when you're dealing with *****-tires like 245s, staggered is pointless... the SC4 and SC3 both don't make enough power to cause a serious traction problem... only when you're going with huge tires is when it should be done... i've got 17x8 BBS RX rims with a +42 offset, 245/45ZR17 tires all the way around and it looks perfect...
and staggered rim height like 18s and 19s is not a good idea either; looks gay

Bean;
I think they are talking about staggered width not rim heights, like 245/40 front, 285/35 rear on 8.5" and 10.5" respectively.
If you go over 8" on the front or 9" on the rear you will have to decrease the offset accordingly to prevent fouling the struts, you will notice this is information not a recommendation.
Can you get 8.5" rims with +50mm Offset? - Yes, if you order split rims.
