Serpentine belt tensioner Wont go down

push further.. it can be a tight fit with a new belt. use a large wratchet or breaker bar.
I think it goes straight into the tensioner, as in you don't need a socket (the square part). If you are doing it right, it should require a bit of tugging, but nothing extreme at all.
If the tensioner is at its extreme and you cant slip the belt on something is wrong. like if you are in the situation where you need 3 people to slide it on and if you luckily get it on the tensioner is simply maxed out, that is not good and your tensioner will fail quickly.
I had one sc300 where someone had changed one of the accessories (my only conclusion) and no matter what I couldn't get the stock belt on, so I had to get one an 1" longer from the local auto store. I tried a new tensioner, and even a belt from my other SC3 sitting in the garage next to it. with the longer belt the tensioner was dead on in the middle of the tick marks. I still wonder to this day wtf was up with that.
moral is, if its your first time, check the old belt's part number before you toss it out. someone could have messed with it long before you decided to.
