MKIV auto with a manual shift mode?

I'm looking at the 1993 Supra auto tranny specs, and they say it's got a manual shift mode on the ECT-i 4 speed. Is this an electronic gear select? Isn't our transmission the same one? Can we install something to make it manually shiftable?

Huh,maybe ask around over on supraforums.com.
Whenever I think of manually shifting a stock Japenese auto,I think of heat-distorted drums,blown pump seals.
