Default How often should an aftermarket cold air intake filter be cleaned?

...also, what's the best way to go about cleaning them? Is there a specific cleaner that should be used?

What kind of aftermarket filter did you purchase? If it is K&N, it comes with the instruction and time interval on cleaning filters, I can't think of the mileage off my brain. If it's HKS, you pretty much use the filter/foam for about 10,000 miles, I think this is what the shop guy told me, and replace with another HKS filter/foam.

If it's K&N, you can buy the cleaning solution for about $10, it comes with the oil for you to apply after cleaning the filter.
