which subwoofer would you choose?

Oh he explained how it was done in another thread.
I mean, I guess it is possible. It's just it is not a drop in replacement. Especially since an Infinite Baffle subwoofer needs the rear deck to be sealed off, the Pioneer would require extra work to do this properly. I'm personally just going to return my Pioneer and get something else and save myself the trouble of cutting away at the rear deck and building a somewhat complicated bracket for the sub.
yes, it was installed by professionals (I think they did minor mod, cutting the plate off with scissors) and it sounds pretty good... I personally do not like it to be too loud... and it shakes the back window...

The reason for the IB has nothing to do with the physical connection. By looking at an IB sub and a standard sub, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You get an IB sub because normal subs aren't meant to have sealed enclosures that are like 30^ft (wild guess as to what size the trunk really is). Our trunk since its sealed from the inside compartment is acting as en enclosure. Regular subs need airspace of anywhere from 0.6 ft^ to 2.0ft^. Our trunks are like 25ft^ - 30 ft^. This is why you get an IB sub which is meant to work with super large enclosures like the size of our trunk.
Hope this helps...

To use a sub in the stock location it must be an infinite baffle design, which allows for a huge box (your trunk) or a lot of airspace. When I was shopping for a sub a while back i remember 3 companies is what it came down to for me......image dynamics (http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/), elemental designs (http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_21) and JL audio with their marine sub woofer. Most marine woofers are IB and work for our deck lid applications. What problem you will be running into is any decent sub woofer you will find is going to have a larger magnet and have clearance issues with the gas tank. You can fix this by spacing it up with a MDF ring or something, but that takes custom work and I don't know your level of expertise..
I got tired of trying to find something decent that would fit in the stock location so I ended up saying screw it and went with a JL 12w7 and made my own fiberglass enclosure in the trunk...
Hope this helps...

I was also considering a Subwoofer replacement for my SC.
I currently have the stock Pioneer setup that comes with the 93Sc300. I am looking for cleaner/deeper bass response. I don't necessarily need it to be heard from blocks away.
Do I need to replace the AMP?
