They are seriously ripping you off. They shouldn't be charging you that much for labor. It took me a little over 2 hrs to do it myself and an hr with the help of a friend. I was quoted about 200 for some local places to install them as well. Where in CA are you located? If you are in Socal, i could recommend a bunch of places to you.

And no, you do not need a spring compressor to take out the whole strut assembly, since you will be instaling coilovers.

Yes you will.

1: jack car up, Duuuuuuh
2: remove wheels
3: Losen the 3 bolts on the Top of the shock tower (under the hood)
4: Use the spring compressor, you can "rent" one at pretty much any automotive store, to completely remove tension on the coil.
5: then remove the bolts connecting the assembly to the control arms
6: set assembly down in a safe location where it wont get bumped, Remove spring compressor slowly
7:Fully adjust the height of the tiens to maximum low, and feed them up threw where the old ones once where.
8. Screw the bolts back in place tightly, and adjust for desired hight
9: Repeat for rears

!!!!!!VERY IMPORTENT!!!!!!!

remove fender liners and tuck the wiring harness up into a safe location and secure it

It's too easy. Don't pay that much for coilovers install. A shop should be able to do the install in 2-4 hrs. Don't forget, Then you need an alignment.

i went to 2 diff shops, both quoted 300 and both are well known shops who can charge more if they wanted... mvpmotorsports and dynosaur performance.. soo that shop is clearly trying to take an advantage of U!

600 would sound about right if they were installing them and also 4 wheel corner balancing...

Post basics

he is gonna have to reuse his old strut top hats. the basics dont come with them i thought. definetly would need the spring compressors. but yeah they are trying to rip you off. i could take them off and put them on 6 times in a shop in that many hours. even at home on the ground it shouldnt take that long.

You only need to relocate if you plan on slamming it and you are rubbing.

Not true. Hard cornering and speed bumps will do this too.

Where's your shop located at? I might get coilovers soon.
