But those two are still pretty damn expensive. If most of the other decent ones in australia are close to these prices, I say get that clean black one!

that's a flare, basically, you break down in the middle of nowhere in rural japan somewhere,
you remove the red flare from the clasps, unscrew the cap... the cap has a rough surface on it, you strike the inside of the flare using the cap like a big fat matchstick...
and it provides 20 minutes worth of pink smoke... day pink smoke... night time is pink light with the pink shining thru the smoke
signalling to other drivers that's you're stranded...
the japanese have their ways of doing things... such as hazard lights also,
hazard lights can say the following things to other users of the road
such as
a parked car with them being left on
"I know i'm parked illegally outside a shop, however don't fine me, as I will be back in a minute, i've only gone in to get something!"
or
"i'm pulled over by the side of the road, but no need for alarm, i'm doing this because i'm meeting someone here and this makes it easier for them to find me"
or...
while driving
you can flash the hazard on a couple times... to say to other drivers
"sorry i changed lanes right in front of you, i didn't mean to cut you off! i just didn't see you driving there"
or
"thankyou for letting me into your lane, i should have changed lanes earlier on but didn't have a chance, so thankyou!"
but driving along with them constantly on a wangan / freeway means either
when speeding...
MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. I'M IN A HURRY
or
when not speeding...
i'm in no hurry, please feel free to overtake
but it can also mean
"there's a hazard ahead" ie - dog crossing road / drunk walking street / road works that might not be visible etc
regarding this car however
another bind i'm in... is insurance... i'd be very hard pressed to find an insurance company willing to insure my car for it's true financial worth!

as soon as you import it to Aus the price will fall down quite a bit, because you paid almost 5k in all the fees and stuff, you wont ever be able to recoup that money, but its worth it. if i ever found a late model v8 in japan i would import it.

"it'll drop down in value quite a bit"
that's the things with SEVS import scheme...
It's a Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme.
it's not put there for so that every 19 year old who works on the mines for a few weeks can import a bashed up silvia
it's not put there for the person that wants to save some money on getting a brand new car
it's there for enthusiasts and collectors! so... yeah it's probably a more expensive way of attaining a soarer... but... 15 grand, to drive one of japans most forward and technologically advanced cars of the 1990's.... in showroom condition... for the price i'm paying for it...
it's not that bad... let's say in 3/4 years time it depreciates 6 grand... that's nothing compared to a commodore's depreciation schedule!
and especially not when i had to pay ~40K upfront!
you don't buy a car as an investment
oh and, as for the late model V8...
there are none, they were discontinued in 97! (in japan, americans not inclusive!)
