Default Hello, new to the board...

Hello All,

I am new to the forums. I am in the process of buying a Lexus SC300, with the intentions of converting it over to 2JZ-GTE drivetrain and single turbo'ing it. From what I have read so far, you guys are against this, but I am following in Clints footsteps and building a monster. I am flying out to buy my car this Saturday, and figured I would see if I am getting a good deal or not?? Sounds like a good deal to me! Found an excellent deal on the flight regardless...lol...$65 from Washington DC to New York!!

The car is a 1992 Black / Tan SC300 with 5spd tranny. It has 82,400 miles on it presently. It is owned by an older wealthy lady, who got it from another wealthy lady in NY. The car has supposedly been professionally detailed every year and oiled changed religously at least every 3K miles, but no paperwork on it (yeah I know, that stinks but...). She sounded very legit and honest, and said it looks like new with the exception of a few parking lot dings and a little wear on the drivers seat obviously. I am getting the car for $9250. So is this a good deal?? I know it is a little harder to find the 5 spds, especially with good miles. Thanks for the input guys!!

PS - Oh, and, if any of you have absolutely any info and/or connections when it comes to getting Supra TT parts (motor , tranny, and/or rear end assemblies, PLEASE pass on the info to me. It would be greatly appreciated. Again, I know it is easier to turbo the existing motor, but I want to convert. Any help on parts would be SWEET!!! Thanks in advance!! Take care!!

welcome to the board.

Go to the classified sections (where LS400 and I are moderators) and you'll see some stuff. Or for retailers, you can talk to our preferred vendor - gonzo4u@earthlink.net who is Steve Ganz @ Carson toyota for the best prices.

Sounds like a good deal. The car priced out on Edmunds.com at around $9700. At first chance, I'd take the car to a Lexus dealer and and have them run a check on the car. The $200 is worth the peace of mind. Good luck!

NVMYGS3 - Thanks for the info. I'll email him right away and see what he has on hand or available. Take care!!

Vegassc400 - Good idea! I probably will take it somewhere and have it checked out. I sort of dont mind if it has any minor things mechanically (even though it isnt supposed to), b/c of the fact that most everything will be replaced (engine, tranny, rear end, etc...), but I'll still let someone check it out as a whole. Take care!!
