Angry Gimme a break!

I went to the local lexus dealer today, my main objective being to get a cupholder for the dash. So I went to the parts desk & I tell them that I would like to get a cupholder. They said that before anything they need to have my vid #. Fair enough,, I went out to my car, got the insurance card, and gave him the number. He asked for the year and I said 93. THEN,,, he said that I could not get one because lexus did not put them in the SC's for 93. I was in disbelief! I asked him if I could buy one from any other year, because I knew that I could install it and that it would fit. He said no because, and I quote, "Lexus doesn't want people to tinker w/ things that are not stock."

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...............................

Looks like I'll be ordering one online now. But at least I got a sweet keychain.
On another note: I got the sylvania low beam bulbs that are of proper wattage and put them in today.
Manaray, I hope that you are proud of me!!!

That is bull, go to the next dealership and buy it from them. Let them know the last Lexus dealership tried to pull some ***** on you and you're never going back. I assure you these guys will be much better

BTW, when I bought my cupholder, all they asked me was what color I wanted.

I got the same runaraound when I asked for a cupholder for my '93 - I was told they're not available for that year - I said, Give me one for a '95, then - they did ($53) and it fit fine. Duh.

Hmmmm,, a very intriguing offer. I'm very interested, just a couple questions. First off, I need one that is tan (I would imagine that most are). Secondly, is it new or used? & y do u want to get rid of it? Sounds like a pretty good deal though, & i can't wait to get my hands on one! I think i might need to considering that the last post you made was your 219th (silverbolt 219)

I purchased my cupholder from lexuspartsmall.com for $32.48. They are a Lexus dealer in Wisconsin that sells discount new Lexus parts on the internet. I have used them for several items for my 95 SC400 (cup holder, ash tray, floor mats, etc.). Good service, quick online price quotes, and real , brand new Lexus goodies! And, yes the cupholder is very easy to install....it just snaps right in. Now, if it were only that easy to change fog light bulbs in our cars........but thats another story.

I just made an inquiry at lexuspartsmall on...

- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 tail light assemblies
- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 front bumper
- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 upper grille piece
- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 foglight assemblies
- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 side skirts
- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 rear bumper
- 1997-2000 model SC300/400 rear spoiler

I found it odd that they asked for my VIN number in order to submit a price quote (???) I just filled in random numbers anyway. We'll see how cheap they are, but that is a good price on a cupholder. I got mine for $37, part number is LX 55604-24030-EO.

Well if you are interested in more parts, send me an email and I'll help you with whatever you need.

I know a couple of people have did this before, but I did my own step by step instructions on how to install the cupholder. It doesn't just "snap-in," you have to remove your entire console trim to pop off the back piece that's already in that slot and then "snap-in" the new cupholder.

So yeah, let me know with what you need and I'll help you out to the best of my abilities!

Yeah, tony's right, the cupholder snaps in easy, but getting that little filler piece to snap out first is where the work is -

and hey rushgator, thx 4 the great lead in this thread to lexuspartsmall - I am sick of the prices at my closest Lexus store - they quoted me $59 for an A/C filter and Carson Toyota will have the same part number on my doorstep Monday for $37. This forum is such a great resource! (not to mention all the crazy people)

Mine really did just snap in. I guess someone had already removed the piece in the cup holder slot. I didn't know there was supposed to be something else down there. I knew that it was too easy to be true.

Another decent on-line site for Lexus parts:

www.spartanmotormall.com --- In Michigan. Good prices, Good service.

These guys are part of the www.parts.com site. Any of the Lexus dealers listed on www.parts.com use the same parts catalog. Dealers do have different markups, though, so if you use parts.com, be sure to compare part#s from several different Lexus sites.
