Default What year SC3 do you suggest?

I am in the market to purchase a SC300, and I plan on doing an Aristo swap, so does the model year really matter on the car, since I am going to swap the motor anyway? I might purchase a 2000 SC300 next week, so any info or comments are much appreciated.
Thank You
Scott

^ 95 or lower.. its what I picked. OBD1 easy for modding. Just upgrade to your choice of body kit or 97+ body parts.

97+ ScX00 you have to piggyback your OBD2 or run the risk of CELs. ( i had a 97 sc300 )

If you are going stand alone engine management for major horsepower it doesnt matter what year you choose.

I would only buy a 98-00 SC400 and be done with it for DD.

However a 2000 is rare =)

92-95...ODB1 FTW...do a 97 conversion later..easier to fight with bumpers than OBD2..

What is CELs? Is being OBD2 still an issue, even if I am going to do the motor swap which would change the computor as well? Also, I am planning on using a piggy back system, GReddy eManage Ultimate.
I had a 92 5-speed and loved it, but had to sell it a few years ago, now I am able to purchase another SC and came accross this 00 for a pretty good deal, black on black and super clean. All I have been working on since I sold my SC is my gixxer, so I am a little rusty on the SC.
Thanx again guys for all and every opinion

CEL = Check Engine Lights. OBD2 for compliance is horrible to fool with. I know some people that have good luck with MAP ECU, however to save from headaches and fooling the OBD2 computer with boost mods. I bought a OBD1. Yes you can change out the whole system, but Im going assume if you swap its going be a JDM motor. If you smog your car OBD2 has a port you need to plug in. OBD1 does not. Its much easier to get your car smog if you have laws like that. In ****-California its very worth it to get a OBD1 car.

Only problem I have with the OBD1 ECU is that theres a lean spot for GTE motors. OBD2 ECU fixes it so they say. Not a major problem but bugs me when my A/F Ratios just goes crazy for no reason =P. Someday I will go full AEM stand alone when I go single for 500+hp.

If you found a great Scx00 I would just buy it. Blk/blk is sexy. 2000 is rare. You just have to maybe put more money into it to get it perfect vs a 95 or under for Motor Swaps.. Good luck!

Get a '97 or newer, they're the nicest; everybody knows it...
Why buy a car, just to spend more money swapping bumpers and lights, when you can have the thing complete w/ the nicer bits already, all for one price?
Just get the '97+ and be done with it. Life's easy from there.
