Fix that stupid panel once and for all.
Go to ace hardware and get 1 roll of backstrap ($1.79) and one tube of Liquid Nails.

The culprit of course, always the plastic tabs we are pulling on for years and years with no metal backing on them........ YET.
(what's up with the hose? Looks like someone had a moment of creativity before I bought the car)

A few screws will separate these pieces.

Fold over a piece of backstrap to make a C clamp and make sure to line the big hole of the backstrap up with the hole the door panel screws into.

ABSOLUTELY make sure you put screws through the backstrap.

Put it all back together. You have a door panel that is stronger than stock and will outlive the car. Enjoy.
Total cost $6.58
I HIGHLY recommend as a follow up you use at lease two types of strength adhesive total AFTER the liquid nails dries. Make it double reinforced as these doors pull a lot of force closing.

So far mine has held up along the way. I have fixed other issues with both doors with them cracking near the speaker. I poxied the back of it, and so far its holding in place. Maybe this will be my next glueing method!

good write up.
i dont have many complaints about the SCs quality...but its amazing how "Lexus" couldn't engineer a decent/sturdy door panel with better components than compressed cardboard and plastic tabs. I guess the Lexus designers didnt expect for these cars to been on the road for this long, lol.
still blows my mind..

I believe the engineers could have made better door panels. I think the problem here is related to price points. Lexus needed to bring the car to a certain price so door panels were skimped on a little. Just my opinion of course.

Please for the love of humanity...."mines" is not a word in any shape, form or fashion. To show ownership, you only have to say "mine." No "S" is needed. Drives me up the dang wall. I'm not hating on you as there are TONS of people who do it.
Back on topic...I will do this next weekend!

I had my panels off a few weeks ago and noticed how so many pieces have cracked over time. Little rattles everywhere. What sort of product could be used to sound proof that kind of stuff? Just a liquid nails sort of thing in the gaps?
