Your car probably has a higher top speed. One of the advantages of having a long car. SC's are very stable at over 120mph.

Not that I'd recommend racing at those speeds.

Thanks to everyone that helped me I just purchased the SC400 and thought it would be amazing fast, therefore in saying I didn't do all my research and all that stuff so I am just going to do good mods slowly and make it worth while.

Thanks all again and yeah thanks for the information!

You thought a 4.0l v8 was going to be fast planted in a car that curbs almost 4k lbs...that's like buying a 4wd k5 blazer on 44/15.5 x 20 and expecting 30mpg...

Searcharound at different options, but ultimately you need to have a solid decisions on your goals for the car

People gotta realize that SCs are slow stock. They were meant for luxury not speed.

Yeah, the SC is SUPER slow! I raced my friend's 92 SC300 once in my 120hp FWD 1999 Saturn SL2 and I beat him. He would've caught up since his top speed is higher than my speedometer goes. A supercharger or an engine swap is still your best bet for more power like everyone else said.

man dont feel bad, 21psi on anything will beat a stock SC4, even with VVti. get some money together, and boost your V8, then ask the GTI for a rematch and see what happens then

Your car stock is making 180hp to the ground. 21psi he's probably making close to 275-300 to the ground. (assuming other mods, not just 21psi). There's not a whole lot of bolt on's out there for the 400, but there's enought to get you another 30-50 hp. It cost alot of money to make a 400 fast. Good Luck.

Sorry this topic LOL went fast, started typing on the 15 & I was 29 when posted. ALOT of the same points made, by many.
The only way he's in that high of a power range (assuming proper tuning with the extra boost) is if he has an upgraded intercooler and turboback exhaust. They definitely have max torque from almost idle. Those turbos are tiny.

Why is it that the SC gets heavier [according to many] every day?? The 2-door 2009 GTI weighs 3034 lbs per VW's own specifications. The 4-door weighs 3113. From other reputable resources (motortrend, edmunds, etc...) I've seen from 3100 to a little over 3200 depending on spec. For a 1995 SC400, the weight range is from 3500 to a little over 3600. 1000 lbs lighter!?
