Your point is well taken, though I didnt intend my "faking the funk" term equate to posing. I certainly can see how it sounded like that though, so I appreciate the candor instead of a curt response.
On the e38 7 series (95-01), there were many INCLUDING myself who "upgraded" to the 01 tails that BMW put on the 01 model only. Just for reference here is the difference (sorry for the 8 y/o cell phone pics):
My entire issue with 97+ tails is that chrome trim in them. If it was just a more crystallized look like the pics above, I'd be all over them. But to my eye they simply don't look good. Now the front has grown on me a little, but that vent...it's just...well I'll never change it.

As far as the front bumper goes, I must go with the post 97, although i do understand and respect your opinions on it. I actually like that upper vent, and the extra cooling for my T set up cannot hurt.
