So pretty much, the Lexus SC was designed with Southern Californians in mind...not surprised at all.

"A modest but unappealing facelift in 1997 didn't help...."

So finally, one person shares my same sentiment. I can't count how many people say that people with the pre 96 should change the front and rear to look like a 97+. If I wanted my car to look like a 97+, I simply would have bought one instead of trying to fake the funk. I guess I'm one of the VERY few that like the pre 96 look better.

I certainly understand what you are saying, but changing the look of a pre-97 to that of a post-97 does not mean that one is "faking the funk" as you state. My car is a 93, and I have no issue stating that. I have owned it for years now. In fact, before I poured unbelievable amounts of cash into it for my current project, I actually test drove a 2000 SC400 over 5 years ago. Since I was adding twin turbos, and building the whole car, I did not find it a benefit to pay more than $20,000 for the car, when I already owned mine free and clear. But I found the pre-97 to be a bit dated in appearance, and the post 97 to still look quite current, so I made the change, with a few additions to that. I will state that there are some gorgeous pre-97's out there, but as in any car made and I mean any make or model, the car almost always looks better after adding wider and lower profile wheels and tires, and some sort of mild ground effects. This applies to the SC as well, IMHO. My point is people are not posing just because they make the change to the later model in appearance.

I'm with you even though I do have '97+ sides and rear...But I still maintain a pre '97 front end though.

but isn't the point or the 97+ front bumper with the vent is to promote more cooling of the radiator???

Your point is well taken, though I didnt intend my "faking the funk" term equate to posing. I certainly can see how it sounded like that though, so I appreciate the candor instead of a curt response.

On the e38 7 series (95-01), there were many INCLUDING myself who "upgraded" to the 01 tails that BMW put on the 01 model only. Just for reference here is the difference (sorry for the 8 y/o cell phone pics):

My entire issue with 97+ tails is that chrome trim in them. If it was just a more crystallized look like the pics above, I'd be all over them. But to my eye they simply don't look good. Now the front has grown on me a little, but that vent...it's just...well I'll never change it.
