story of my vin swapped '92 sc300
about 4 month ago i bought a jade green '92 sc original 5 speed
i love the car, it has 192k but some one has def took great care of it, only 2 owners both up in upstate NY
i got it from insurance auction, when i saw the vin check, i noticed that car was never in accident( i examined the whole body and sheet metal as well and no sign of wreck ) so it was mystery how car ended up in the pound
i had salvage title in hand and went to MD state trooper to get the title signed off so i can register it and throw tags on
upon close inspection, the VIN number on chassis of the car did not match withe the rest, basically swapped
so now i was told they would "investigate" i am sure as hell hope they would at least give back the salvage title or they said they would issue paper stating to get rid of the car or part it out
so if i don't get the title back should i just get another sc shell and throw over the parts???
i love the car and took me a min to find unmolested 5 speed

That is a real shame to hear man... People are shady these days. If the car is in great condition, depending on what you paid for it, maybe you could part it out for more than you paid for it. Alternatively, you could swap everything out and have the perfect parts car sitting outside for when you need a part

get another shell and swap in another set of numbers. the only downside to this is that you have to weld in the numbers that are stamped in on the firewall and get rid of everything else with the old vin number, that and it is a felony, but its only illegal if you get caught.
