Hey All,
I just got back to NY, and took my car out of the garage after storing it for months.
And when I went to turn on the AC it was dead.
No Freon (134a)
I tried refilling it with 3 small cans, and had AC for a day, the next day after that it was dead again. All leaked out within 24 hours![Frown](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Anyone know if a can of "resealer" (syas on can it can be used to seal leaks in 134a ac systems) will work.
Or is my leak too sever?
The resealer can says it also has oil to help lube the systems and keep the rubber seals conditioned.
Think the seals may have shrunk???
AC was working last summer.
What a bummer.
any comments or suggestions
Thanks
Regards
Ken

If you have a leak that bad, then you've probably got lots of moisture in the system, and you need to have the leak fixed, the oil purged (its *extremely* hygroscopic), and the drier replaced. Look for oily spots on the various components of the system, the refrigerant carries oil with it as it leaks out.

I'm right there w/ u buddy, my a/c has been dead for the last three weeks and my car is like a sonia on wheels. I used some of that resealing stuff but it didn't work at all. I was aware of the leak for a couple years now but before it would take a couple months before all the freon would completely be out. Now it only takes one day
. But anyways i finally tracked down the leak and i'll hopefully have it fixed this weekend.

in my many many problems with car a/c.....usually best to go to someone with a leak detector.....almost always saves time and money in the end....the dye works but you know, not quite as well....
also....don't forget to replace the dryer...any decent a/c shop will do that regardless....otherwise all that crap that gets in from a leak that severe will f up your **** eventually.....
also never ever do the freon 'upgrade' ! many reasons for this...
