Can i beat a.......?
#4
I found this on the net.
Lexus SC 300 Model
MSRP $41,595
3.0L in-line 6
225hp, 220 lb-ft torque
0-60mph 7.9sec
4-speed automatic Electronically
Controlled Transmission w/intelligence (ECT-i)
Fuel consumption: 19/24mgh (city/highway)
So plus or minus..I think you could take a Acura CL. But who knows...driver is a big part of the equation

unless ur 300 is a stick
its gonna be hard
i have a 400 and i get beat pretty bad when we run from a dead stop
but if we run from a rolling start
i always pull
so ... it might be my car needs a good tune up and the twice over
fix the small things

A family member has a 3.2 CL Type S and it is much faster than my 97 SC300. Our cars are heavy and the CL's 5 speed steptronic just rips through the gears faster. I must say, my SC is a lot more fun to drive. In fact, I actually dislike driving the Acura's, they just are not comfortable.

I don't know the specs., but I would be comfortable in saying the weight difference is negligable. It would depend more on the condition of the motors and driver ability here.
Try it and tell us what happens. You can't really ask that question because we don't know
A. how well your car runs
B. how well the acura (in question) runs
C. how you drive
If you race economy shifting (i.e.) low rpm shifts, you will lose. Rev it up and shift at the last possible moment. You could win, if you don't break something - wich I don't think you will unless you don't shift. Launch off at about 4,000rpm ( if you have the 5spd. )
I wouldn't expect a 90 ls to beat much of anything stock

don't undershoot your lex. first you gotta know what to do. If running an auto:
1. Put overdrive off
2. Traction control off and everything off (ac, radio, windows up also)
3. Drop to 1st gear
4. LEFT foot on the brake(to the floor)
5. RIGHT foot to give it some gas(hold it, your car will try and jump)
6. If at a light, watch the light to your left or right out of the corner of your eye to inticipate your light going green(this helps)
7. Stay calm
8. When the light goes green Left foot off brake and at same time right foot pushes gas to the floor.
9. Shift at last possible second for each gear, and drive in a straight line.
10. don't be a wuss, you car can stop bullets so if everything is bolted down properly your lex should be fine
kick some a$$

Regardless of how well you can shoot off the line, stock SC300 are not very fast at all. Don't get me wrong, they are not zero to 60 in a weekend, but they are very sluggish and they don't put power to the floor very well. These cars are not designed to be race cars, but luxury sport coupes.

That's weird. When i was down in AL a lil while ago w/ Ian I raced an Accord 2 dr. (not sure what yr.) in the 1/4 mile twice and both times I won (it was very very close though the whole way). All i have is an intake, and he had more mods (i know an exhaust and intake and some exterior mods, but im sure he had perf. wires, etc....he had done **** to it) Here were teh conditions: VERY HOTTT, nothing removed from my car (spare tire, seats, etc.), me and a friend plus trunk full of suitcases.
