Default Need help asap please!!!

hey you guys are probably going to be pretty upset, but you know how our power steering fluid says use dexron ATF? Well ive been using regular power steering for a while and my power steering pump went out. i thought it just from old age because my sc400 has 295,000 miles.. but i put in regular power steering fluid after i put in the new pump and it is still foaming and spitting out.. I only put about half a quart, but like i said i've been using it for a while before the new pump. I am thinking the problem is that i didn't jack up the car when i put in the pump and put in new fluid. will regular power steering fluid really destroy everything? or what? SUGGESTIONS NEEDED ASAP

Question: Why did u put powersteering fluid when it says use Dexron? and why did you go ahead and put in the same fluid after the new pump?

Because I did not see that it says dexron and I really didn't diagnose what the cause was for my old pump breaking.. but when i was trying to find out why it was still foaming I noticed that the cap says dexron atf

i see.

Flush the fluid out via the return line.. if its the same as the GS it should be on the bottom side of the car. after that fill the canister to the very top n turn on your car. look at the level and add more when it gets below the line.

that should clear up the frothing.

if it doesnt and it constantly foams then either you have a leak somewhere.. or maybe the high pressure line isnt secure??

Yeah i actually thought it might be the rack and pinion, but i lifted the car and put in dexron 3 premium and it did the trick. no more leaks and no more annoying roller coaster noise. its not foaming or anything either. thanks for the help anyways though
