Default steering issue.

I just got my first sc300 this past week and i noticed that when i turn left it turns accordingly however when i turn back right theres like a "dead" spot from 12 to about 3 before it starts actually turning..

i tried to do a little searching and i didn't come up with to much
i did find that the steering bushings should be replaced which ill be doing that since its a 92 and they are only 39.99..
but im just curious if this could be the problem or theres something else to it..

any info would be greatly appreciated..ty

jack your car up and see if anything is loose i.e. worn bushings, etc...

This definitely sounds like worn steering rack bushings. Luckily, they're pretty easy to change out and you'll notice immediate difference when you do. If you just get down and look at them, you can probably see that they are all disintegrated. I'd recommend looking at your lower control arm bushings too; they're probably about shot too. Lots of info on fixing them here too.

its prob ur rack and pinion. Check underneath ur car while someone moves the steering wheel all the way to the left and right. You'll probably see that the rack and pinion bushing is worn out.

I just had this issue!!!

Me and a friend put the car on a lift and saw the rack was totally missing the bushings, so there was a lot of play. Fortunately I had already bought new bushings.... unfortunately, there are still a few other issues that need to be addressed before I can take it out for a test drive.

yea what he said ^^^^^^^^^

Most likey these bushings. Very easy replacement and makes a world of difference. Check for other things like some people said. Make sure the rack and pinion boots are not ripped. and check to see if there is any power steering fluid leaking from the boots. If it is you will need a new steering rack because the seals are busted. Hopefully its just bushings but its a good future reference. Also check tie rod ends.
