Default SC300 5speed vs NA Mods ??

Is it worth $$ NA Mods on a SC300 , Can you squeeze much out , Are there headers , chip , etc.. avail ?? Or is a waste of cash.

I have not seen much out there for THe SC300 beside going Boost.
If so where online etc..
Thank You,

You can do headers/exhaust but real power gains will be from boost.

Time to save!

n/a SC, even 5-speed, will only run mid to low 15's down the 1320 due to an obese weight issue, and in the end are an utter waste of time.

You could do a high compression NA build and make decent power, but you'd spend so much $$ doing it you could have easily gone boosted....We used to squeeze 290+ rwhp out of 4 cylinder Ford Pinto motors for the Dirt Track guys.

or go with a 3.4L NA motor w/ ITBs but that'd be a stupid waste of money

This forum seems to have a general mindset of NA-T or bust.

I think I'm going to do the I/H/E and see what happens.

installed headers, midpipe and a full custom exhaust system. Don't feel a difference at all except its obnoxiously loud as hell, its a waste of money. Im already considering about parting it out and picking up a turbo kit.

NA-T/TT swap or bust. Take it from someone that did it already

its not a simple mindset of na-t or bust, its simply been proven time and time again. your SC weighs as much as most trucks do, pair that with lame gears, you have a fairly slow car unless you boost it. end of story..NA-T or GTE if you want your car to stand a chance against much of anything with more than a 1.8l 4-cyl.

I had a similar setup, and I noticed a good difference. I guess the shorter gears of a 5 speed help. (assuming you have an auto)

I guess one of the most noticeable mods for an out is getting shorter gears. It would be fun off the dig but... highway rpms will be up there.

The reason is because boost it gives you the best bang for the buck.

With some time, patience, and luck... you can piece together a used turbo kit for ~$1000... Hell, the XSPower kit isn't much more than that brand new!

**Note, that is just the turbo kit, and not any of the other peripherals needed to support it.

I/H/E... will cost less than $1000, or maybe even more, depending on brand. You'd be lucky to squeeze 20 horses out of it... (that last part I might be exagerating a little... I don't really know the numbers for NA mods for the SC)

The problem with BPU on NA is that 1JZ/2JZ swaps and NA-T are so cheap and easy, it's not worth the money to squeeze a few HP here and there out of a 2JZ-GE. You could literally have a full 1JZ swap in your car for $1500-$2000 and a weekend and you're already at 300hp-ish. FMIC and boost controller for 300whp.

In the end, what people are saying is that you're better of taking your I/H/E money and dropping in 1JZ and you'll be exponentially happier.
