uhhhmmm...
man i hate to rain / reign on your parade here... and i hate to be the bearer of bad news man, but...
you've been taken for a bit of a ride here by the seller... so i hope you didn't pay "97" prices...
your soarer is not a 1997 model... it's a series 2 jun94-mar96 series 1.5...
note the tail lights and TT engine... also the grey / spruce interior
any soarer built after mar96 has VVT single turbo engine and and either tan / black interior...
check the build plate located on the firewall on the right hand side of the car...
it's still a nice car and the TT's are a lot more responsive to boost / modification so in that regard it's a good motor but a 97+ it is not... sorry man!
my next question is - i'm from australia... i thought the USA weren't able to register imported cars?

regardless, it's a super nice car. I actually LOVE that interior combo- I'd love to find a white on silver interior car out here and get some black wood in it. That would be my ultimate interior for sure.

its a velour... not a cloth like ina 240... japans cold climate favours velour over leather. however 2j soarer and UZ soarer had optional leather. from factory in jap there were about 130 different options for soarer ranging from lsd.. sunroofs.. to elec seats to gps to phones to all sorts..
nothings wrong with having a pre 97... i dunno why you guys are making out like im laughing at op's expense because im not. im saying id be a little bit pissed if seller told me it was 97. charged 97 prices and led me to beleive its a series 3... but... then again maybe he was in the dark too and genuinely didnt know.
what i wud also like to add is ... even though its series one... most jap tuners favour the 1j tt over the vvti 1j because of the lower fylinder comp means they can be fed more boost and respond better to mods. im sure a lot of forum readers here know that already but the difference between OP and most others here is... he has a soarer. and doesnt need to swap engines or build turbo kits
either way its a good purchase yeah?
oh and the TT soarers got velour seats because they were the "sportier" variant.. toyota didnt want to blur lines of luxury and sports

lol yeah i was a little late reading Relapsers post.. I caught the Tails and the TT motor when i first looked but i'm definetly not 110% on soarer year changes vs SC's

yeah you guys right i forgot it's 96 i have 2 this one and my girls. My girls is a 97 but i just picked it up and im in the process of changing everything in the car.
