how to check darkness(%)of tint?
I had F/R tinted but I had to remove front tinting due to the state inspection. looks naked without front tinted so I wanna retint for front window. but I'm not sure the darkness(%) of my rear tinting(any idea of % on the picture?). I wanna match the % with rear.
anyways, does any have pic for 30% front, 5% rear?

I prefer the same darkness all around: I have the lightest shade (70%) on my MR2, and will go the same on the SC4 (I like the girlies to be able to see in just a bit!). A classy & refined look...
Here in California, the CHP will mess w/ you if you go too dark- I've NEVER been harassed in my MR2, drive it 100 miles/day.
I really like the 'Titanium' type of tints- sort of a neutral grey (NOT the silver-reflective/mirror suff). My MR2 has Llumar Titanium, the Lex will get SunGuard, I believe called 'Platinum'

I do not think he is laudering any money. But it is odd. I do know that he is very successful in the Tint biz.
I do think it is funny also thou... his cars are worth more than his house.
And I have been to Cecils Barber Shop... never met Mike thou.

i HAD 5% all around until the wonderful police department in my area pulled me over multiple times, by the 3rd time in 2 weeks i decided to do away with the tints until after inspection, im planning on putting them back on soon though. its rough in jersey, tint laws are strict.

Tint laws are pretty strict everywhere.
But come on, 5% light getting thru your windows is equal to pitch BLACK for the most part.
I think I would just drive the car around with my license and registration out ready for the cop.

In Cali, a tint ticket means 'Fix It'. Therefore you have to pull it off, get the ticket signed off, and send it in with $10 service fee.
Find a cop to be friends with and you are covered. J/K

Tint tickets are a $15 processing fee when you fix-it and show a cop that you have corrected the violation. Having a cop friend does not always work because the cop friend has to be in the same agency as the citing cop. I have a CHP friend, but he can not sign off Pleasanton Police tickets. Same would apply if I had a Pleasanton city police friend and had a tint ticket issued in Dublin or San Francisco. If you do not want to remove the tint or correct the violation, you can opt to pay some $250 fine and leave them on your car, but then you are still prone to getting cited the exact same ticket the next day .
5% is not pitch black or even close. If you think about the 5% light index, and see how much and how intense the light is outside, you'd understand. Stare into a car's headlights, very bright lights aren't they? Stare into the sun on a clear day, very bright light, no? With just 5% of those very bright light sources, you still get plenty of light to safely operate your car. Also, at night when traffic lights, street lamps, and other vehicles are the only light sources, and the your surroundings would otherwise be pitch black without them, relativity comes into play and you will see even really dim light sources like your own reverse lamps reflecting off the car parked behind you. If you haven't seen out the window of a 5% tint, I'll tell it looks EXACTLY like you're wearing sunglasses.
