SC300 Daizen rack bush vs stock rack bush
A friend of mine offered to buy me a Carne Asada burrito, in exchange for installing his SC300 daizen bushings. Not one to turn down a good burrito I jumped right in.
I heard it was easy job anyway.
It took all of 20 minutes once jacked up. I can clearly see he was having issues. His bushings no longer existed on the driver side, while the passenger side bushing had swelled from heat/fluids.
It's a great product! Everything went in smoothly.

Hey imDementeD, did that turn out to be what was wrong with your steering? You never followed up in your thread as to what the resolution was for you. I was pretty sure what it was from your description of the "dead spot". Once you've felt it, it's pretty unmistakable. I always hated making a quick lane change (like to get into a left turn lane before an intersection) and when you returned the wheel back to the right (the same amount you'd turned it to the left), nothing happened !! . . . you'd basically have to turn even farther right, until the steering would take up, and only then would it correct back to straight. Pretty sketchy stuff.

...im not 100% since the bushings are on back order.. im pretty sure thats the issue though since the bushings were non existent...i took them out already since i was installing new rotors and brake pads so its still on jack stands til these bushings come in..
i talked to quite a few people though and they said most definitely this should be the problem because the rack is moving so its not turning until it gets to a certain degree..
and yes very sketchy..ive only had the car two weeks and when i first bought it i felt it but i was test driving on back roads so it wasn't that bad of a problem..as soon as i left for the hour drive back to my house i was getting on the interstate and the on ramp was a good half mile long and curved to the left then back to the right..the left turning is responsive..the right however wasn't and i was already doing at least 60mph and i was like WTF ITS NOT TURNING!!..definitely scared the ***** outta me....drove about 60-65 all the way home after that hahaha..

Those are mine... Yea, steering was dead/unresponsive from 12-2 o'clock on mine.
Easiest way to check if it's the bushings is to jack up the car and stick a flat head screw driver underneath the rack (where the smaller bushings go) and move it around. If your rack has any play and can move, then you need new bushings.
This is where the small bushings go.
As far as changing them.. here is the DIY
