5 speed Fluid
I have heard a lot on the fluid, and that I should use redline. However, since I still have my tranny out, I want to go ahead and change it before I order some Redline.
First, does Walmart carry good enough transmission fluid for standards. I would like to put a Mobil product in.
Second, what weight of fluid should I put in, and what weight of Redline should I order.
Third, should the level of fluid be at the bottom of the hole on the big inspection bolt on the drivers side? I know thats the way rear ends work.
Fourth, what is the best rear end fluid I can get?

Scary..
Very scary post.
If you have a manual transmission you need to use whatever lubricant the manufacturer recommends. If you have an automatic you need to use.....

Oil...
I think that the Mobil One product is as good as if not better than the Redline one.
I have been to Redline's plant in Benicia. It is not uber impressive. I am not saying plant is everything, however, I feel more comfortable with Mobil's clients

If you think that I was going to put in Mobil automatic transmission fluid in my 5 speed, you insult my intelligence.
Oh, excuse me, let me re-phrase that. Mobil Gear Lubricant.
Better?
