Hi I searched for this and could not find the answer. If I were to buy a replacement cluster for my SC300, that has about 10,000 fewer miles than my car does, could I somehow roll forward the mileage on my new odometer?
Thanks

I tried the same thing with going from a 400 to a 300 cluster. I did this to get me rpm and mph closer since the swap. You are right, you must swap the chip. I ended up using the 400 motherboard in the 300. This kept my current mileage and all needles and functions work on the money. My 400 cluster was from a 92, and the 300 was from a 93. The boards were labeled same part number but the ending letter were different. Was one A and the other B. Hope this clears up some rumors or theories. I did this myself...

I can confirm it works, switch your board from current vehicle odometer to new/used working cluster and you’ll have your original odometer numbers
ok just a little more info if any one cares..
as i thought pcb does contain the info for the odometer..so swapping the boards worked for the odometer..HOWEVER i have a 92 cluster from my car originally and the cluster i purchased was a 95....these boards are noticeably different..i had to use my original clock with this board as well since the 95 has a temp sensor in it etc..anyway
using the board from the 92 resulted in the needle lights NOT working..im not sure why this is because as far as it looks they are the same in that manner..but apparently they are not....so i swapped back out the pcb to the 95 and put the cluster back together the needles work again the odometer is back to the high 211K miles ..
so overall i feel that you can swap the odometer reading by using a lower odometer back panel pcb however make sure its the same as the one you're replacing..
