As far as the paint I have a "HVLP" air compressor that I have been painting cars with for a few years now.

I do not have a spray booth or access to one but you would be surprised at the quality of the results.

Donr skimp out on the quality of paint is very important.

A good base with an even better clear coat and you should do well.

The amount of money you will save far outweighs any of the hassles or minor imperfections you may get.
