Does this kind of stuff happen a lot on manual transmission cars? I've been thinking about doing a transmission swap sometime, and down the road get a manual 300zx and Supra TT. I've never driven or owned a manual so I figured I'd ask.
Stick and Auto are about the same in terms of reliability. But the difference is on how the car is driven. I have observed many drivers floor it from a stop as they make their way through red light infested streets. I drive my car - easing it into gear each step of the way.
My last four cars have been manual transmission, and I prefer it even in traffic ridden So Cal freeways.
Driving a stick tends to keep the driver aware of how the car is running. I am aware of how much RPM I am at as I am shifting through the the gears. This is not to say that my eyes are on the needles - I listen to the engine and I can feel the RPM's based on how the car is responding. It's not just step on the gas and go while listening to the radio. And it is because of this that I am more in tune with how well the car is running.
Back on thread topic:
It seems that the previous owner may have topped off with the wrong fluids for the clutch cylinders. Bleed the system, but the issue persisted. Replaced both the master and slave clutch cylinder, and it is working perfectly. The car gets into gear a lot smoother than ever. I am glad to report that the clutch itself did not need to be replaced. Who knows - maybe the wrong fluid gummed up the cylinders.
just like what other suggested, flush and replace the fluid. Btw, you have to do the correct way to flush, ensure that you do not have air on the line. If you still have the pedal sink issue, then test the master and slave.

If I was on my own doing this - I would definitely have reservations about if i did it right.
In this case, I was "supervising". Yup - that's what i did.
