Carbon Fiber Vented Hood
I have been emailing Brendan from import hookup and have talked to him about the quality of their hoods. These carbon fiber hoods have predrilled holes for washer nozzles, rolled edges, grill insert for vent, shinny clearcoat, a special additive in the clear coat that protects it from UV rays so the hood wont fade at all, everything is reinforced, they are very very solid and thick, and there is even carbon fiber on the underside to reinforce the edges.
I know alot of you want the oem hood with no vent, however, you and i know that the sc's cook up a lot of heat. so my point is does it make sense to spend money on a mod that makes your car lighter but pents up all that hot air and cramps horsepower?
you can spend the same amount of money and get a cooler engine, cooler air charge, MORE HORSEPOWER (god forbid), cooler looks, and more ladies just by spending 650 per hood with 130 shipping. do what is sensable. let me know what you think so i can talk to brendan about a group buy

Provide the specs.
Is the pics a SC prototype?
How much weight are we talking about?
And what purpose will a reverse vent serve?
This is more of a heat gravity vent, then a applicable
forced air vent, to cool down the engine while in motion.
Maybe I am missing the physics of the air dynamics of
a rear suction vent.

nope the supra hood, it will be your oem hood's shape with the vent in it. use your imagination.
Air goes in grill.....
Air exits through vent....
if you think a hood style like that on a mustang is more beneficial you are confused. the air goes in from the grill, air goes in from the scoop. That way there is not a direct air flow in and out.
without an exit vent, the hot air is at a standstill in your engine and the temperatures rise like an oven. i will get back to you on the weight

hahah...i know it only lets air out in, just wanted to show people how it would look like on a car.
Wouldn't you want air to go into the engine to cool it off?
Both would work, but how much power do you have under your hood to need a hood vent like that?
Just trying to see why you would want to make vented hoods instead of regular hoods which will have more buyers. *think about that

yes yes yes but you don't seeeeeeeeee.
i want the COOL air to go in just like with the regular hood.
BUT with the vented hood the COOL air AND the HOT air will pass out of the hood.
THAT means a COOLER temperauter in the engine bay where it is HOT
I'm getting a turbo. a big turbo heh.
saturday i'll know how big

Hope it doesn't rain where you drive.
Also, on most cars with hood vents, the air coming in allows air to flow over the engine. This air pressure coming in forces more air to circulate rather than trapping the heat at the top of the engine compartment.
In actuallity if you think about letting the front grill air out earlier than it is supposed to, it would cause the hot air above the intake manifold to become more stagnant, hence reducing power.
Just my .02 and physics

Well whatever floats your boat. You'll have a hard time getting members here to commit to buying a vented cf hood.
Post pictures of your turbo when you get it. We'd love to see it. Me and my partner are working on something similar and we'll unleash the beast when it's 100% done.

oh it rains don't worry, intake is in front grill. no rain in there
intake picks up air in front grill as it is rushing in and over the top of the engine pushing heat out.
all these weeniers that won't buy vented hoods need to buy a clue and realize the benefical features that come along with letting the hot a$$ air out of their sc's engine compartment.

i'm sooo sick of people telling me to sell my 400 and get a 300. its laughable

Neal,
Maybe the photo isnt making sense dimensionally.
From what I can see, the hood vent is 'indented' in the hood and 'downhill' from the area closest to the wipers. Therefore, at a light or parked, pouring down rain, that hood is just an overpriced gutter to the altenator and powersteering pump under the hood (from what I can tell it will line up with).
To me that doesn't make too much sense. if the vent was facing the other way and the cut out was indented like the factory front grill (97+) then water would not funnel in.
MW
Again, sorry if I am just not understanding how letting the fresh air from the front bumper out before the engine is helping.
