Hey guys used a new product to get rid of the foggy or yellow film on our headlights. It is a headlight restoration kit by class act. It involves 3 different sand pappers, 2 wet sanding fluids and a bottle of basically clear coat. Mine were really yellow and wish I had taken a before picture but they came out really good. Well Let me know what yall think.

Yeah man mine were just like that. It takes a bit of time but well worth it. Im not sure how long it will last but i got tired of buffing it everytime I washed my car. Like I said I was really pleased with the result and im sure you will be too.

Just a heads up guys, that stuff only lasts a few weeks. Plast-x and a little elbow grease is still the best way. They do look good though.

right on. We did it to a car at the dealership 4 months ago and they still look good. I was hopin for atleast a year. We'll see though. We are actaully selling it as a service item now through Lexus.

reminds me of the 3M kit they sell out there. Looks good! Still nothing beats wet sanding followed by machine/hand buffing with compound though. I would post some pics of the restorations ive done but I dont wanna be thread jacking unless you don't mind

oh yeah since you wet sanded your headlights and buffed them out. The key to keeping your headlights clean is basically wax them every time you wash your car. Just letting you know just in case you didn't know. I've been doing that for the past one year or so and its been clear ever since. Since you wet sanded it, it took off that UV clear coat layer that is on the headlights so the wax kinda acts like the UV protective layer. If they get rough feeling over time then just simply clay bar your headlights it will take off all the dirt then wax it again. Same goes for plast-x just wax it after you plast-x and it should last for a good while.

Yeah it all sounds pretty simlilar. I wet sanded then the last step is to add the uv coating which is a clear coat. I will add the post when they start to fade or yellow over.

I use the Rain-X plastic polish/cleaner and it works great. Just another option for you.

Once you've buffed the yellowing off, as was mentioned above, the duration of the fix is pretty much ALL related to the replacement of the factory UV clear coat. If the product includes an effective clear replacement, then it should be more successful. If it doesn't, then it's not really a 'fix' at all; just temporary cosmetics.

Would it be a good idea to wet sand the lenses, then spray on a coat of urethane clear ?
