Default What are the yellow wrapped wires in the front wheel wells?

So guys just slammed the SC and found a torn set of wires wrapped in a yellow tape and loom. The passenger side was allready cut or torn while the drivers side looks in bad shape. Usually yellow means airbag related and since I bought the car the air bag lights have been lit on the cluster. Is it important for me to fix these wires? Or should I just unplug them from the boxes they are mounted to as I am about to install a nardi steering whel anyways.

Also how are you guys rerouting the engine harness running under the drivers side fender? Does it simply unplug from the fuse panel/ect and reach if I run it through the engine bay temporarily untill I can do a full wire tuck and extension?

Its a tight reach going thru the engine bay, it would probably be better to extend them. If you want a quick fix, just secure them above the metal bump stop in the wheel well.

Yep, those are the wires from the crash/impact sensors mounted in the extreme upper front corners beneath both front fenders.

Just out of curiosity, if you're going to willingly omit your airbags, are you at least adding 4-point harnesses or something to keep you face out of the steering wheel?

Since you guys are on the topic, are those two the only crash sensors in the car?

two in the fenders, two in the front one on each side and 2 in the back. if im not mistaking., if you wanna disengage them for drift id just unplug the air bag computer or disconnect the bags.

lol, those were the first harness(es) to get ripped out from under my wheel wells when I slammed my car....I zip-tied the remains out of the way and forgot about them till now.....I'm still procrastinating about relocating my inner fender harness...

Even if you're installing a Nardi wheel, the passenger side bag might still be affected by it. So I would fix it.

There is another member here who ran it that way... as a matter of fact, he made a DIY thread for it.

im running into the same problem, my passenger side front wires are gettin chewed up. so i can just unplug it from the sensor and tuck in the wires somewhere? will that be enough for it to not go off?

Possibly... I don't know what would happen if those wires shorted out together... but if I were you, I'd tape off any exposed wire and/or unplug the airbag ECU
