I would if it was in really good shape and came with EVERYTHING except for the extra stuff needed for a transmission swap.

But otherwise you would probably wait for something with lower miles or maybe a complete swap kit on ebay?

Here's the ad with a picture of the transmission at the bottom.

why did you start another thread that is still focused on the same topic?

what are your goals for the car? cause if your goals exceed the safe point of the w58 (which isnt much) dont bother with it, save and get an R154.

I'm only going to be in the Twin Cities area for a day so I need as much feedback as possible.

If I get a decent quote on installing the turbos I'd probably shoot for about 100 extra HP.

If your only going for 100hp over stock, the stock auto will hold just fine. I have been running 9psi on stock compression for well over a year now, and have no issues other than traction. I would suggest waiting and getting an R154, cause like most people, "low" boost just isnt enough and you will want more later.

R154 transmission= $600 (if your lucky) ---$1000 depending on condition

1jz/2jz bellhousing= $340 at driftmotion.com

clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and other things that require for the 1jz/2jz+r154 swap= $500+

Not as simple and cheap as you thought right?

still need to add some of those parts to the cost of the w58 too, so its not as simple/cheap either way, not to mention you forgot the clutch lines, slave/master cylinders, pedal set..but why spend all that money on a transmission that has been proven to fail and isnt much stronger than the stock auto? especially for only 7-9psi(+100)? pointless right?

Things are a little cheaper in the south west- R154s are pretty easy to find in good shape for around $500

same here in TX. The junk yards here in Houston are packed full of MK3 Supra R154's, and are asking less than $400 for them with the bell housing (can be resold), clutch, flywheel, pedals
