Question 93 SC300 for 3k?

Morning CL members,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th of July and a safe one.

I need your opinion on this: I was given an offer to buy a 1993 SC300 for $3,000.00
Black exterior w/beige or tan interior, moonroof, factory handless phone, k40 radar, memory seats, 12disc changer w/o nakamachi but the premium system, complete service history, telescopic tilt wheel w/memory and no spoiler. Engine has been checked by Lexus with only power steering pump needing repair and everything else is in working condition. Exterior is in good condition and interior is in average condition w/o any holes or rips just needs some tlc.
This is where I need your input: the car has 192k and is a one owner car/non-smoker.

My question to you is this: What is the fair asking price that you would pay for this car and keep in mind that paying in cash is not of a concern to this guy. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Just take it. The parts alone are worth more and its working. Sounds like a great candidate to turbo. This is a no brainer to me. I would buy it in a second. If you don't want it I'll take it. PM me.

Of course, buy it! That seems like a great deal. Let everyone know when you get it.

4HUN & Hermosa,

Thanks for the reply and I have made a decision to buy it but at a lower price. I will offer him $2,800.00 and see what he says and hopefully he'll take it and if not than $3k is not a bad deal. Thanks for the input guys.

Hermosa,

You had mentioned that this would be a great candidate to turbo. I had thought about that but with the high mileage on that car how long would you think the engine will be able to handle the extra power before breakdown?
Does the Toyomoto kit comes with all the goodies that will back up the extra hp?
Thank you once again.

JAC JZS,

Thanks. I'll let you guys know as soon as I bring the car or should I say buy the car and give it a good detail and try to post some pics. Can't wait for the next stage"Turbo". Sooner or later.

Another question and I promise it will be the last for now at least:
What should I do first?
1. Turbo
2. Upgrade brake kit
3. Bodykit and wheels
4. New seats or Supra seats?

Thanks guys

Have a safe weekend.

IMO clean up the seat covers before you try buying new ones. There is an excellent post recently on how to restore your leather.

The wheels and brakes would probably come together since you need to take in consideration that you need some prettty good sized rims to accomodate the Supra TT brakes.

Personally I am going the following path:

1. Purchase the car of course
2. Fix all cosmetic annoyances
3. Exhaust
4. Tint
5. Rims and wheels
6. Eibach springs for the NA Supra
7. Supra TT Brakes
8. Torque Converter and tranny cooler
9. Stage II Toyomoto
10. Start all over with my SC400 as well.

By the way I am on number 4 but have already purchased all the parts listed and am awaiting arrival.

Good luck on the SC300 and enjoy.

banking,

Good find man! You're too lucky.

Anyhow, keep us updated on your mods to your SC300.

Thanks for the advice you guys have given me. I will post a pic of the car once I decide on what set of wheels that I want to put on it. I am looking forward to complete this project by the end of September.
Thanks everyone and have a good weekend.

That sounds like an incredible deal to me. I've never seen one cheaper than $8K.

You guys are crazy. That sounds like a terrible deal, there for sure must be something wrong with it. Pass on that deal.

Oh ya, and give me his phone number, I just, uhh, want to call and see if I can figure out whats really wrong with it. Ya, that's all.

Can i offer him $3500? Just joking. Yes get it. Its a great deal. I would do a 2JZ swap instead of doing turbo.

Buy the damn car! Good color, good price...can't beat that.

Whatever is/might be terribly wrong with it can be fixed and you'll still come out ahead. What he probably means by perfect turbo candidate is: buy it, and swap a 2JZ-GTE engine and a Getrag tranny. Or buy it and buy the front half of a Supra turbo.
