Default SC as a sports car.

hi Im a rotary guy, and I have been noticing the SC300 for quite a while. actually, all of the SC cars. they are all beautiful, but I never thought they were decent performance cars untill recently. I heard from someone online that it comes with an N/A 2JZ-GTE (I dont know the code for the NA one) and conjured up the rediculous idea of swaping in a 2JZ, only to get home, and discover that it really wasnt that crazy of an idea. whodathunkit!

anyways, I remembered this adress, and I was wondering if the SC300 really has any potential as a sports car, if it had the 2JZ and 6 speed. also my friend on AIM just notified me that it has rediculously heavy seats, so some Torinos sound awfully nice about now. mmmmmm, torinos...... comfy.......

do you have kaza? if you don't get it and do a search for sc300 in the video files section. i feel that these videos will quench your thirst in this question

(especially the sc300 vs cobra video)

I already have that video. my only concern actually came from this message board. 20's? Chrome? complaining about a rough ride? It makes me feel bad inside.

anyways, then, are there any SC forums that are geared towards [erformance?

765 isnt that big of a deal, bud, ESPECIALLY with a 2JZ-GTE.
I dont mean to sound like a smart ***, but dont go thinkin your alone out there in the automotive world.

ok mr big shot rotary guy how often do you come across something that can toss a 700 plus horsepower sports car in the trash can? no often unless you race at a strip. if 765 horsepower isn't good enough for you on the road then you need to get some **** surgery...

as for people complaining all cars have problems and everyone can find something they don't like about their car if they look hard

that is big. but it isnt THAT big. it just seemed from your post that you thought that was some ungodly mind boggelingly huge number.

trust me, ANYONE who makes that much power in a street car gets my respect, but they're not alone.

The same guy that has the 765rwhps SC300TT is making a 1000hps SC300T. Is that enough for you or are you looking into the impractical, tow-around on a trailer, NHRA, top-fuel, dragster types??? FYI, the SC400 motor has been fed some 2000hps with some stock internals in place as well. But the SC300 has the same exact drivetrain as a Supra NA, so whatever a Supra NA is capable of, the SC300 is capable of. There are about a dozen or more guys in here with 500+ hps on their SC300 so there is plenty of experience to go around. For any further technical questions, do a search and you will come up with A LOT of info.

The 20-inch chrome discussion was brought up by ONE guy, I wouldn't classify all of us as bling, bling chrome-happy drivers. Rough ride is probably someone with a suspension issue or just a picky guy. The seats are as heavy as any fully-powered, fully-adjustable, heated seat would be. Every car forum on the net will have threads with problems, complaints, issues, and different tastes. That just about all there is left to discuss here

alright, I got, it, stick around before I judge

anyways, could someone show me the diffrence between 1st gen and second, I looked in the photo gallery, and it doesnt look that diffrent.

edit: oh, and my response was based upon the assumption that the 764 or whatever was the most hp anyone had made on an SC because of the rest of the post that came with that figure.

Here are the differences in the SC400 on a year to year basis. They all apply to the SC300 as well (save for the engine changes). In 1998 the 2JZ-GE got VVTi, in 1995 the bell housing was enlarged (better for the Getrag), and somewhere along the line they got rid of the 5-speed manual (I think?).
