You should post up a video of that noise so we can confirm. First thought was power steering pump, maybe fluid low.

That's hilarious. That was always my dad's solution to every weird noise coming from his cars: crank the music.

We've found the problem. Every time I turn my radio down it costs me money, much less take it OUT!

Yeah when i get under the car that def where it sounds like, the mounts are all newer replaced them about a year ago. It loud it obviously in the tranny and i is around the bell housing. BTW: I have this thing on a lift guys, i can tell its the tranny, I did replace the rear main seal a couple years ago. So i know the area i'm listening to...

With wear and tear the planetary gears will lose the "perfect" mesh spot which will then cause a "supercharger" whine.

The differential is no different so it can cause the same sound.

Like someone has already said, once the sound is there it will never go away.

This pan had magnets in the bottom of it, 3 of them so it stays in the pan... Mine had nothing attached to them either. That's what Lexus uses for inspection.

Youre torque converting is going bad. This happened on my 93; the noise started out real low but got louder and louder over the weeks. Stop driving the car because there is no sign when it will go out and leave you stranded like it did me. just get a used low mileage converter

You guys crack me up, does everyone really have that much trouble telling between there transmission, there differential, there fuel pump, and there power steering pump? Fortunately I can throw it on the lift so there is no question.

Well I hope not, it was constant every day but after I did that the sound went right away. Wouldnt be a big deal if it went out for me to replace, the tranny was also overfilled from when the rear main was done. It showed now signs of problem till now like a year later though. So dont know if that would have much to do with it...
