Bad news for my TX sc4
ITS SO DAMN HOT!..I bought my car with no a/c thinking it only needed a recharge. It got super hot this week so i took my car to get the a/c checked out at a local shop, i guess they put the dye in the system and found that my compressor leaks. he quoted me for a new compressor at $1045 sounds a little pricey to me.. so i have some questions and im going to take it to another place to make sure this guy isn't just tryin to milk me for $$$$. I was on myLexParts.com and i found just the compressor for about $500.
Im trying to get educated cause my funds are going to other things right now.
Is that a legit price? $1000+?
Does the sc3 and sc4 have the same system? I see members here have compressors for sale but for sc3's..would it be beter to just buy new?

I've done AC work before, it's usually cheap or it's really expensive. If a compressor goes bad, typically a bunch of others things would have to be replaced to be done correctly. Is the $1045 for the compressor only or does it include labor? If it's a compressor, it seems a bit pricey, then again it is a Lexus.

for $1045 i assume that's the price for a completed job. otherwise the price is really high just for the compressor.
if you open the system then you should swap the drier also but that's cheap. if you like you can flush the system but if it looks clean you should be ok.
then the other cost would be recharging it.

nah if it was catostrophic you SHOULD flush the system and replace those parts like they said... are you mechanically incline? if so buy a new compressor ( 300-400) receiver/dryer 35 and expansion valve( no clue) ............ that price is good i think if you arent mechanically incline and it has a warranty.

Alright man im a tech for lexus. The price is right on point for a dealership install, which we all know is higher than a aftermarket shop. What is happening is he is buying the compressor from lexus and then adding most lily an additional 10%. Try to find the compressor and dryer for a cheaper price. No need to do the expansion valve unless it has gone back. PM me man and I'll explain more if your interested.
