Default NAKAMICI Radio no sound from rear speakers (bass works)

On my recently purchased 1992 SC400 for some reason the rear speakers do not work - the bass center rear works fine but nothing from right/left rears even with fader set all the way to the back - ideas on fix? It is a nice sounding factory radio really don't want to replace...

Chances are your speakers are blown.

Time to replace them.

Yep ^^^ You can have them tested at an audio shop too. But replace speakers and keep your factory radio

more than likely those speakers are completely shot due to sun/heat damage. if you want to do something simple just get a decent set of 4" speakers hook them up and call it a day

several nice 4" speaker deals on eBay - that is the right size for the space and mounting holes in rear right?

4" speakers are the stock size but more than likely the speakers you get arent going to be able to use all 4 original mounting holes. the rear speaker covers are held on by 4 screws. you could do the easy way and just rip through the panel because its so thin or you could do the correct way and remove the back seat and some trim pieces to get the rear deck cover out. heres the guide on how to do that

I'd do a full day's yard work before pulling all that out to replace two 4" speakers! Okay, maybe I'll do the rip out and replace method...

I guess the first thing to do is remove the speaker and test it before going out and buying new - I am no speaker guy but to just be totally out versus static or something appears odd... My luck it is the stereo unit itself maybe the amp inside

if your front speakers and tweeters work then i doubt its the amp which is actually seperate from the head unit in the sc. i know when i pulled out my stock rear speakers the foam surround on the outside was completely gone
