Default Alternator rebuild, using a 8 diode rectifier in what was originally a 6 diode?

So i have this rectifier part INR733P which is the same as the part number for the one that is original to our alternator which is INR740P. The only difference is the 733 has 8 diodes and the original 740 has 6 diodes. Would this just be stronger and put less load on the rectifier? I'm thinking this what the do with high output alternator just put a rectifier with more diodes in it. If anyone knows please let me know, Thanks!
